Most divers begin by purchasing thier own persononal gear, or snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel, and fins). If maintained properly this equipment will last a lifetime provided you start with quality items.

MASK - The most fundament peice of quipment! Diving and snorkeling are visual experiences. It is important that your maks has a proper fit and does not fog up. Any quality mask should sit comfortably on your face, the frame should not make contact with your face. The design of the frame should provide good visibility. The skirt and strap should be made of 100% silicone, and nothing else.

SNORKEL - Stadard peice of equipment used for snorklers and diver any time at the surface. Snorkels will vary greatly with styles and features but should share the same basic features. The mouth peice should be comfortable, made of a soft silicone. The tube should be no longer than 17" and have a brightly colored tip and the mask clip should have some hight adjustment. personal preference will guide torwards a purge valve and or a dry valve.

FINS - A huge variety of colors and styles make chosing your fins a little dawnting. Size and stifness are important factors whan selecting fins. Cold water diver are limited to open heal fins in order to accomodate wetsuit boots or dry suit boots. Warm water diver have the option of using full foot fins or open heel with a boot. The larger you are and the more equiupment you carry, the larger and stiffer you finds should be.
